If you are worried now
Contact your treating team first and say where the swelling is, when you noticed it, and whether it is larger than it was an hour ago. If the team cannot be reached, call the hospital main line. For a red-flag finding — a swelling that is tense and growing, pain that is worsening, or skin over the swelling that has turned dusky, blistered or cold — go to the nearest emergency department immediately rather than waiting for a reply. This website is not an emergency channel and is not monitored as one.
Arranging a review
Non-urgent concerns — bruising that is fading, swelling that is reducing, a firm ridge under the scar — are raised with the team that performed the operation, or through the outpatient clinic of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital, 301 Huafu Avenue North Section, Jiulongpo District, Chongqing. Say when you had the operation and what it was.
What to bring
The date and type of your operation, a list of your medication including anything that affects clotting, and a photograph of the swelling taken in good light with the time recorded. If you marked the edge of the swelling on the skin, say when. A comparison across an hour is more useful than any description of how it feels.
What the assessment covers
The history first, then an examination of the tension of the swelling and the state of the skin over it. Blood tests are added where the collection is large or where clotting needs to be checked, and imaging where the swelling is deep or cannot be assessed by hand. You should leave knowing whether the swelling needs draining, and if so when and how.
Fees, records and privacy
This site does not quote prices, because the plan depends on the findings and is discussed directly at consultation. Where a collection is evacuated, what was found and what was done is documented so that the record follows you, which matters for any later operation in the same area. Clinical information is held under the hospital's records and privacy policy.
